Job Description
Position Summary:
 
This position is responsible for repairing semi-trailer mechanical components, performing preventative maintenance on a regular basis, tracking maintenance schedules, and working with dispatch and lease companies to schedule and repair equipment as needed.  This role also performs inventory and orders parts and supplies.
 
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
 
  • Repair semi-trailer mechanical components including tires, brakes, frame, suspension components, pipes, hoses, fittings, valves, and other equipment used for hazardous liquid products, including welding tasks
  • Annual cargo tanker tests and inspections (HM-183)
  • Perform visual inspection and maintenance of equipment on a daily basis
  • Perform regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on local equipment
  • Perform inventory and order parts and supplies, under a working budget
  • Track maintenance schedules of equipment; work with dispatch and lease companies to schedule and repair equipment as needed
  • Maintain equipment records and files as required by DOT
  • May shuttle tractors and /or trailers to shops or the plant
  • Other projects as assigned
  • Operate site-specific equipment, i.e., portable street magnet at St. Louis plant
 
Working Experience and Education:
 
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a trailer mechanic, including full maintenance and repair of trailer components including tires, brakes, frame and suspension, pipes, hoses,  and valves used for loading and unloading of hazardous liquid products
  • Extensive Knowledge of MC312 and MC412 tank trailer design and maintenance
  • Full knowledge of DOT Equipment Requirements  and welding experience, air brakes and anti-lock brake certification, cargo tank inspector certification as required by DOT
