Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Program Manager is responsible for reliably and profitably deliver complex projects over the life of a program. This role depends on the Program Manager’s ability to effectively listen, communicate and gain cooperation from customers, vendors and internal stakeholders.

Success requires the ability to apply business skills combined with technical skill sets to analyze performance, lead change initiatives, budget, manage and control complex initiatives to assist the VP Operations in meeting performance objectives. He or she will understand all aspects of the program delivery process from requirements analysis; budgeting; planning; scope management through delivery and contract close out.

The Program Manager will have limited direct staff. The Program Manager is expected to provide guidance and input (in an advisory role) to other managers in regards to the procedures, processes, training, capacity plans, customer requirements, scheduling and other needs of the program. With regards to their own direct staff, counseling and disciplining the staff is a responsibility of the Program Manager.  Communicating job expectations, planning and monitoring and reviewing job contributions along with providing written reviews with suggested compensation action is also part of this role.

 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Act as the primary customer contact for program activities.
  • Manage the business activity of the program – accountable for risk management, scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Ensure that all customer actions and requests are responded to in a timely, comprehensive, and accurate manner.
  • Plan and monitor all program phases from requirements analysis and initial planning to delivery and contract close out.
  • Establish and monitor adherence to program plans and schedules, identify program problems, and obtain solutions.
  • Generate cost and technical proposals ensuring that project scope, budget and schedule is accurately reflected back to the customer.
  • Identify, plan and lead continuous process improvement projects.
  • Establish and update material, tooling, processes, and MRP definition for project products.
Skills and Abilities
  • Formal education:  Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience:  3-5 years related experience with both shop floor and project management experience
  • Computer Skills:  Must be able to use common office software and engineering software systems, including MS Projects.
  • Certificates and Licenses:  PMP or other project management certification encouraged.
