Job Description
Summary The Operations Excellence Manager (OPEX) will partner with all other operational functions to deliver cost reduction, process improvement, and elimination of waste. This position will oversee and support the quality management system, manufacturing engineering projects, and lean activities for the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the quality function and direct reports to meet the plants short and long range quality improvement objectives and improve the quality culture.
  • Deploys, supports, and sustains all plant quality related certifications and the plant quality management system.This may include, CE Certification, ISO Certification, and specific customer associated requirements.
  • Will own the quality function of the facility to drive improvement and focus on employee ownership of our manufacturing process.Will reduce internal and external customer complaints, warranty and plant PPM.
  • Promote a culture of systematic problem solving to improve manufacturing and non-manufacturing processes. As needed, build credible reports and present to management for key quality related issues.Expert on reporting out of information to tell the story and show the steps for positive progress as it relates to quality and warranty issues.
  • Will be an expert in goal development and execution.Will support the strategic process for the plant in determining leading and lagging metrics.Will be creative is goal solutions and options to gather and target key data to drive decision making within the plant.
  • Build site lean culture by developing awareness and expertise of lean manufacturing concepts and tools at all levels to achieve or exceed plant metrics. Drive the Lean Assessment criteria and champion the process of continuous improvement in the facility and improve scores year over year.
  • Expand upon our 5S culture and program to take it to the next level. Implement tools such as: visual factory, value stream mapping, standard work, work instructions, and training best practices.
  • Drive employee engagement in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices.Evaluate, develop, deploy, and sustain a plant employee suggestion program to drive improvements.
  • Expand upon our cost out activities for the plant.Track projects to completion, lead them as assigned, delegate to team as needed, and calculate required cost out benefits from projects.
  • Develop and report out metrics for verification of continuous improvement activities including cost out, efficiency improvements, lean projects, lean assessment, and other assigned activities.
  • Support new product development and industrialization to ensure the quality deliverables in meeting quality goals.Work closely with engineering during the development of new products.
  • Support Manufacturing Engineering in developing robust and sustainable processes in the facility.Work closely with the manufacturing team on improving the efficiency of current processes.
  • You will support and direct cross-functional teams to eliminate roadblocks and communication barriers that may affect quality, lean manufacturing progress, and customer requirements to aid in achieving goals.
  • Lead the OPEX team utilizing the Company Leadership Model to effectively communicate requirements and expectations.
  • This role will supervise quality, lean and manufacturing engineering roles.
Education and/or Experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading a lean manufacturing and quality structure within an organization with a proven track record of success
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • Prefer certification in Lean manufacturing, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer / Manager or ASQ Six Sigma Black belt.
